Types of ROI
Simple ROI

Annualized ROI
The average annual return over the holding period. This allows fair comparison between investments with different time horizons. Calculated using the formula: (1 + ROI)^(1/years) - 1.
Net ROI
ROI after accounting for all costs including fees, taxes, maintenance, and transaction costs. This provides a more realistic picture of actual returns.

ROI vs Other Metrics

- Gross profit from campaign: $15,000 - $6,000 = $9,000
- Net profit (after ad spend): $9,000 - $5,000 = $4,000
- Simple ROI: ($4,000 / $5,000) × 100 = 80%
- Annualized ROI: (1 + 0.80)^(12/3) - 1 = 1.80^4 - 1 = 949% (if the campaign's performance were sustained for a full year)
