How to Interpret Your Results

The results show your maximum heart rate and three target zones. Using the 35-year-old example: their max of 185 bpm is the theoretical upper limit their heart can reach. The moderate zone of 93 to 130 bpm is where you can hold a conversation while exercising, sometimes called the "talk test" zone. This is ideal for fat burning and building base endurance. The vigorous zone of 130 to 157 bpm is where conversation becomes difficult and you can only say short phrases. This zone improves cardiovascular fitness and calorie burn. The extreme zone of 157 to 185 bpm is for short bursts only, like sprint intervals. The bar chart gives a visual reference with green representing the lower end and red the upper end of each zone. Keep in mind that 220 minus age is an average estimate, and your actual max heart rate could be 10 to 20 beats higher or lower.
